The LWMA Alumni Association hopes each and every one of you has had a wonderful summer. As fall approaches, so does Homecoming here at Lyman Ward. Our varsity football team will play Holy Spirit High School (from Tuscaloosa) Friday, October lst, at 7:30 p.m. Homecoming activities will continue Saturday, October 2nd. Other games include Berry, September 24 (away), Mount Hope, October 8 (away), Camden Military, October l5 (home), Holy Spirit, October 22 (away), and Victory Christian, October 29 (away). (See the schedule below for details ans scores.)
Our new Academic Dean is Mr. Charlie Hughes. Charlie is also the head football coach, and has been since 2001. Charlie lives in Lafayette with his wife Donna and daughter Erin.
Our President, Dr. Chester Carroll, reports that the one hundred seventh school year is off to a good start. New cadets are still enrolling.

Brenda (Mrs. Frank) Barnes recently donated many interesting books to the Lyman Ward Library. Some of the titles include THE CIVIL WAR, GREAT AMERICANS, PRESIDENTS, and ADVANCE AND RETREAT: THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF GENERAL J.B. HOOD. The Alumni Association greatly appreciates her gift.

Reunion plans are already underway for Lyman Ward's Class of 1980 and Lyman Ward's Class of 1995.

Get well wishes go out to DeLene Cawley, as she recuperates from surgery. Our condolences and thoughts are with Philip Potts '63 in the recent loss of his father.

Robert E. Simmons, III (Bo), LWMA Class of 1997, was married to Angela Marie Young on September 4, 2004 in Negril, Jamaica. The couple reside in the Birmingham area where he works as full-time investigator for a law firm.

"I received a note, unsigned, I'm assuming in reply to the recent mailing of the newsletter stating that Kenneth C. Griffith passed away June 1, 2003. He attended 1945-1951. The records do not reflect that he graduated."

Thomas Berger Ingles, Class of 1991,
died September 23, 2004.
I received this note from DeLene Cawley in the alumni center today - 10/4/04.
Sandra Hall (at LWMA) called me this morning and said the school had received a donation from a Diana S. Hext, Panama City, FL. in memory of Thomas Berger Ingles, '91. No other information. I told her you research obits in newspapers and maybe you could find out some details for us. Would you work on this and let me know? Ingles last know address was Lynn Haven, FL. That may help.
I found this on the website for the Panama City News Herald dated 9/27/04:
Mr. Thomas B. Ingles, 31, of Panama City, Fla., died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at his residence. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Ingles will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 27, 2004, at Lynn Haven Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Girton officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Hext, Gary Johnson, Scott Mixon, Bob Wilson, Jason McKeithen, Mike Gaffney, Mike Tagney and Phillip Campbell. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in honor of Thomas Ingles' memory to: Lyman Ward Military Academy, P.O. Drawer 550, Camp Hill, AL 36850
